Trenton Historical Society Issues Results from Mayoral Candidate Questionnaires
How do they see Trenton’s history as an asset for the future of the capital city?
As concerned citizens, voters, and supporters of New Jersey’s capital city, The Trenton Historical Society issued a questionnaire to the ten mayoral candidates for the May 11 election. In keeping with its mission of “the dissemination of information about New Jersey’s capital city and its illustrious past,” the Society believes these answers will help citizens make more informed decisions.
The six questions focused on the use of the city’s historic sites, museums, and landmark buildings to promote economic development; their thoughts on plans for the Trenton Central High School building; the promotion of Trenton’s African-American history; the status of Trenton’s Landmarks Commission; their positions on the proposed state historic preservation tax credit act and the designation of a Trenton Ferry Historic District.
Results from the eight candidates received by the dead-line of April 30 are posted verbatim at the Historical Society’s web-site www.trentonhistory.org.
The Trenton Historical Society offers these responses as a public service to citizens and supporters of the city. As a non-partisan organization, it does not condone, endorse, or reject any candidate.
Mission Statement—The Trenton Historical Society’s mission is the study and interpretation of Trenton’s history, the preservation of its historic buildings and artifacts, and the dissemination of information about New Jersey’s capital city and its illustrious past.
